Release 10.1A: OpenEdge Development:
Web Services
WSDL file overview
During Web service deployment, the WSA generates one WSDL file that defines one or more Web service objects. These Web service objects conform to the Open Client object model, and include a single AppObject, zero or more SubAppObjects, and zero or more ProcObjects to describe the Web service. They include all operations—procedures, user-defined functions, and built-in operations for object management—that define the Web service interface, depending on the Web service object and session model. The WSDL file might also define an object identifier (object ID) for each Open Client object. The WSDL defines this object ID for most Open Client object types, depending on the session model.
For more information on the Open Client object model and its architecture, see OpenEdge Development: Open Client Introduction and Programming . For more information on how object IDs are used in different session models, see Chapter 3, " Session Models and Object IDs in Progress 4GL Web Services." For more information on how the Open Client object model supports Web services built using OpenEdge, see Chapter 4, " General Client Programming Model for Progress 4GL Web Services."
